Eric Latham, bass guitarist for Irene & Reed

Eric Latham – bass guitar (on Struggle, Strength, Reclamation, 2012)

A native of the Midwest, Eric Latham has been playing the bass in the Indianapolis area for nearly a decade. Primarily a sideman and studio bassist, his influences include James Jamerson, Robbie Shakespeare, and Ron Carter. Latham’s experience playing across a variety of musical genres, including jazz, reggae, rock, blues, folk, and R&B has enabled him to develop strong skills on both the electric bass guitar and the double bass. His personal playing style is melodic and soulful, and he thrives on adapting quickly to other musicians and providing exceptional support to their own styles. Latham has also been inspired by the music of Jamiroquai, Freddie Hubbard, Sade, Burning Spear, and Al Green. Irene & Reed welcomed Latham for studio work on album two, Struggle, Strength, Reclamation.
