Catch our live concert debut at Birdy’s Dec. 1 at 8:45 PM, $5

WTF is “Piano Pop Cabaret?”

Lips like jazz. Eyes like rock. Words like blues. Moves like cabaret….
It’s what you get when you pair the classical piano stylings of Indy’s Jason Reed Milner and the sultry blues/jazz vocals of poet/journalist and singer-songwriter Leslie Irene Benson with the equally trained musical ears of drummer Eddie Venable and bass guitarist Scott Carroll. Blending poppy, melodic hooks with accessible, intimate lyrics and a vintage World War II-era aesthetic, the newly formed band Irene & Reed ( will put on a show you won’t soon forget. Catch their debut concert live on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Birdy’s Bar & Grill. Details are below.

Emily Thompson of Stereo Subversion says of Irene & Reed: “The lyrical depth is striking [and] catchy. A feeling of vulnerability permeates these songs. This is true art.”

Indy’s favorite singer/songwriter Jennie DeVoe supports the band too: “I get a vibe of early Fiona Apple — good and moody but not a copycat of anything. It’s jazzy pop… Good, good stuff.  I highly recommend catching them live.”
