NM Kjeldsen Emerges a Vanguard Artist

At our performance at Indy CD & Vinyl for the 5th Annual Broad Ripple Music Fest on October 15, 2011, we witnessed a wave of lo-fi, DIY American singer-songwriters and their fans experiencing a grassroots movement that has not been seen since our parents’ generation. This independent group of musicians and music fans appreciate songwriting that’s not forced upon society or mass distributed via mainstream marketing. Fans of bands like NM Kjeldsen (http://www.nmkjeldsen.com) have an undying love for original music runs deep….

Neil Kjeldsen, a humble Midwest-based singer-songwriter who recently released the brilliant and well-versed five-song “The Black Bear” EP, performed at Indy CD & Vinyl armed with only a guitar and his voice. He filled the room with sonic odes so simple yet elegant and full of emotion that it left his listeners breathless…. Theirs is truly a love that knows no bounds.

Closing our eyes, we heard his inner thoughts.

“The black bear roars quietly.”

It’s this juxtaposition of strength and humility that makes Kjeldsen an inspiration. We were thrilled to be a part of his magic. His debut EP is available for only $3 at nmkjeldsen.bandcamp.com.
